Just before arriving at the “cream puff” we discover on our right hand another garden room with a more informal and playful ambiance. Here we admire again a series of apple and pear trees, lime espalier and lots of marvelous Hosta “Frances Williams”.
Quite a variety of trees and shrubs such as Magnolia Sophora, Viburnum, a so-called Burning Bush (Euonymus) and the elegant Dove tree or Handkerchief Ghost (Davidia Involucrata), rival with each other for beauty and charm.
You will also notice a discrete, very old and renovated arbour.
The main garden
The main garden is the largest part of the property. It is a well established green environment with several solitary topiaries and massive green islands of box balls, shrubs and splendid rhododendron.
Several family members have their own little dream corner in this garden. Enter the charming little “garden of Margot” (the young granddaughter) and admire the playful carrousel with a Chihuahua, a peacock, a turkey, a squirrel and a goose, all perfectly box-trained and tamed by a charming nymph.
Even the master of the house got from Frida a loving wink in the garden, a little corner with his initials clipped in box as well as a very old Flemish boat, marking his interest in sailing.
